Why we built it this way

Twenty litres is a day on the trail: water, layers, food and a first aid kit, and nothing you will regret carrying uphill. At 1.2 pounds the pack itself barely counts toward the load.

It is built from 210D nylon with a water-repellent finish — fine for dew, drizzle and the splash off a creek crossing, not a substitute for a dry bag in real rain. The front bungee takes a wet shell, the side cords take poles, and there is a sleeve and port inside for a hydration bladder.

My Favorite Hiking Tool

This backpack makes hiking a breeze. It’s lightweight yet holds a lot. I like the versatility of the different pocket sizes. One of the compartments has built in holders that fit my sunscreen and bug spray perfectly. The side pockets are perfect for regular water bottles or larger ones. The cross-straps make it convenient to clip things onto. The material wicks away moisture so it doesn’t feel like you’re toting a wet blanket. It’s is water resistant. I’ve used it in a light drizzle and it was fine. Hard downpour, I don’t know about that. The straps are adjustable and it has a chest strap option. I have the bright yellow one so that I can be seen easily. I’ve had multiple compliments on its appearance and capacity.

Was able to pack a lot in the bag, extra jackets, binoculars, camera and extra water. Kept everything dry in some light rain. It appears to be well made I liked the smaller pockets to keep things segregated and easy to find.
